Morganville Vampires #3 up this week. I’ve swapped it on to my reading list for the September Reading Challenge, as I’m never going to get through the long, chunky books I chose with the pressures of work at the moment.

My teaser:

His eyes opened, and they were all pupil. Scary owl eyes. ~ pg 150, Midnight Alley, Rachel Caine.

So this week I’m reading The Dead Girls’ Dance by Rachel Caine, the second in the Morganville Vampire series. Didn’t particularly rate the first but I’ve heard enough good about the series to give the second a chance.

My teaser:

You walk up to the first cop you see and you tell him you need to see the mayor about Frank Collins. And you tell him Frank Collins has his daughter, and she’s going to pay for the life she already took, not to mention the one they’re about to. ~ pg 245, The Dead Girls’ Dance, Rachel Caine

So this week I’m rereading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It’s the 50th anniversary of its publication and I haven’t read it since I studied it at school. It has the overwhelming acolade of being the only book I enjoyed studying at school – English Lit pretty much destroyed every book I had to read for it, except this one.

My Teaser:

Suddenly a filthy brown package shot from under the bed. Jem raised the broom and missed Dill’s head by an inch when it appeared. ~pg 145, To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee

Phew, I’ve been so busy the last few days. Barely had time to sit down and get my nose in a good book! The good book I’m reading this week is The Adamantine Palace by Stephen Deas. Yay dragons!

My Teaser:

Day by day, Kailin watched Snow change. Dragons, he’d been told, were like little children. ~ pg 149, The Adamantine Palace, Stephen Deas

Making good on my aim to get on with my Summer Break Reading Challenge list, I’m currently reading Glass Houses by Rachel Caine. Enjoying it so far, even though I have only read a few pages!

My Teaser:

She couldn’t hear anything or anybody when she left the first floor. It was as silent as – she hated to think it – the grave. ~ pg 232, Glass Houses, Rachel Caine

I’m so happy to finally be reading this series! Took me long enough to jump on the bandwagon, but I haven’t been disappointed – both books are fabulous! (so far, obviously for Linger, can’t comment on the whole thing yet) I love the UK covers of these books. So stark and dramatic :)

My Teaser:

And I leaped at him. I flew off the stairs, my arms spread out on either side, and I saw panic cross his face just as his assistant jerked her camera up and the flash blinded me. ~ pg 183, Linger, Maggie Stiefvater

My Teaser Tuesday this week is from a book I’m reading for the Summer Break Reading Challenge.I fin Meg Rosoff oddly irritating, even though this is the third book of her’s I’ve read. I read them a bit like the chapters are short stories – can’t digest more than two or three at a time, but generally enjoy them.

My Teaser:

With everything more or less in order, I sat down next to Finn and watched him sleep. His features looked even more delicate than usual, his eyelids violet and nearly translucent. ~ pg 146, What I Was, Meg Rosoff

My Teaser Tuesday this week comes from a book I’m reading for the Summer Break Reading Challenge. It’s a bit of a monster of a book. I would actually say it’s as big as my head. 575 pages, and they aren’t small pages either… It’s a fantasy book, the second in the Terra Incognita series.

My Teaser:

The small village was thriving. Most of the homes looked new and sturdily built, with a coat of fresh whitewash in preparation for his arrival. ~ pg 284, The Map of All Things, Kevin J. Anderson

Because I’m still plodding my way through Nights of Villjamur (it’s been a busy week) I’m taking my Teaser from the book I’m currently reading with my other half. It’s not to my usual taste, but sometimes random can be good. The book is called ‘Trucking Hell’ by Gaz Hunter and is biographical account of the mishaps and adventures that can be had continental truck driving. Like I said, not my usual fare, but I’m enjoying it.

My Teaser:

I know from experience that a Browning can be a little on the temperamental side. If you drop one it will like as not shoot you in the foot. ~ (no page numbers in this book, randomly) Trucking Hell, Gaz Hunter
